e-mail lists

There are two e-mail lists that you may subscribe to.  There are some similarities so make sure you know the difference.  You may subscribe to one or the other, neither, or both.

• New Newsletter Announcements
  • You have the option of being notified of our Norman Studios Silent Film Museum newsletter via e-mail.  We archive the newsletter on our website each month making it publicly available.  .
    
    
  • The actual newsletter itself will NOT be e-mailed but instead, a link will be provided to lead you to our website to read the current newsletter.  There are a couple good reasons for not sending the newsletter itself vs. the link to our website.  Sending the newsletter to multiple e-mail addresses uses a lot of resources, which many ISPs and e-mail server agreements will not allow both on the sending end, and also on the receiving end (your e-mail Inbox may not have enough room for the newsletter but could handle many more e-mails otherwise).  A second very important reason, is that we want everyone to go to our website where we list current events, attractions, and some fascinating historic perspectives, not to mention the great historic photos.  After you read the newsletter, you are right there at the website.  Our incentive for offering this option is to get you to visit our website.
    
    
  • This newsletter notification e-mail will not be the same as the NS ATTENTION e-mail,* which alerts people of items on our website that are timely or something you might not otherwise know.  That e-mail may come more often than once a month, or less, depending on the need.  The newsletter e-mail will arrive once a month only.
    
    
  • To receive notices of our newsletter via e-mail, you will need to send an e-mail and ask explicitly to be included on the e-mail list.  Specify whether you can receive HTML e-mail or not (HTML e-mail means that you can receive e-mails that have colored backgrounds, embedded images, and text can be different sizes. Text based e-mail is plain-text only, no special formatting, or different text sizes, and the background is generally plain white*).

• NS ATTENTION e-mails
  • It is difficult to monitor our website constantly, but otherwise, you might miss out on something.  The NS ATTENTION e-mail alerts those interested of items on our website of interest or timely.  The e-mail may come more often than once a month, or less, depending on the need.  This is not the newsletter subscription; see the previous item above.
